Amy Gabrielle Witmyer

Amy Gabrielle Witmyer is a dedicated yogini who was introduced to yoga at age 15. Her first passion however was in the Visual Arts, which she began exploring at an even earlier age. Amy continued to follow her creative path; and in the early-90’s attended the School of Visual Arts and the International Center of Photography, in NYC with merit scholarships. After living and working as an artist & photographer in NYC for a few years, her interests in Yoga and the Healing Arts prevailed.

By the late-90’s, Amy started on her new journey in the Healing Arts and studied with Annemarie Colbin at The Natural Gourmet Cooking School. In 1998, she decided to deepen her yoga practice and take a Yoga Teacher Training with Alan Finger of ISHTA Yoga, NYC. Amy was one of four teachers chosen to teach, out of over 50 applicants. By 2002, she started her own studio, Sacred Space Yoga, in NJ. In 2004, Amy completed an additional Yoga Teachers Training with Raji Thron of Yoga Synthesis, in NJ, where she also taught. In 2007 she completed a one-year study at The Unergi School of Body-Psychotherapy with Ute Arnold, in PA. Amy continues to finds creative ways of incorporating her artistic endeavors in her work. She has designed a line of jewelry called "Sacred Stones" which are made with crystals and mineral stones for their unique beauty and great healing power. The finished pieces are fully cleansed and charged with Reiki Energy. Amy also continues to find time for her love of photography. She has created "Dreamscapes - Images from the Imagination", a growing body of work that speaks from her creative imagination, and has developed "The Women's Metamorphosis Project - A Self-Healing Journey". This project uses photography, video, journeying, and other various forms of self-expression. Stay tuned for her latest creative endeavors.

Amy's exclusive classes for women focus on their unique needs for balance and renewal, through all stages of life. Her teaching style successfully blends ancient healing practices and authentic creativity. This dynamic blend offers a practice that serves as a healing form of self-expression.

Amy lives an abundant life in NJ with her husband Michael, son Juaquin and their beloved dog, Maya.

Philosophy and Styles

I believe the practice of Yoga teaches us another way to listen to ourselves. It is a method that allows us to turn our attention inward; this awareness can guide us to flow with our true nature.

Our best teacher resides within, and the practice of Yoga offers us tools to access this innate wisdom and connect back to our genuine spirit.

My education in Yoga primarily stems from integrated styles of Hatha Yoga including Vinyasa, Iyengar, Viniyoga, Ashtanga, Kundalini, Restorative Yoga to name a few, as well as Ayurveda, Yogic & Holistic lifestyle practices.

While I feel strongly influenced by these teachings, I have taken them further by developing my own unique style and method of teaching. I strongly encourage all of my students to find their own style for themselves.
